Campfire Apple Crumble

Cooking with Euro Alfresco

  • 5 cups peeled, cored and sliced Granny Smith apples

  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour

  • 3/4 cup quick oats

  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar

  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of kosher salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

METHOD | Cook time 15 mins

Step 1
Prepare your Euro BBQ grill for indirect heat (heat one side only to medium-high heat)

Step 2
In a 10-12 inch cast iron skillet, add in sliced apples until almost filled. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, sugars, cinnamon and salt and stir thoroughly. Cut butter into small cubes and add to flour mixture. Using your hands, gently press butter into dry ingredients mixture until a course crumble forms. Sprinkle an even layer over apples.

Step 3
Over indirect heat, place your skillet inside and cover for 30-40 minutes or until apples are completely tender and cooked through (for the perfect finish: ensure crumble is golden brown and crispy). To serve, add a scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream and enjoy!
